Your Life Fully Lived

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”

John 10:10

“I will not die an unlived life. I will not live in fear of falling or catching fire. I choose to inhabit my days …”

Dawna Markova, Ph.D.

Remember playing hide and seek as a kid? At the beginning of each round the seeker yelled, “Come out, come out, wherever you are! Ready or not, here I come!” As a hider, you hoped you had picked such a good spot that you would never be found. It was big fun to match wits with your playmates. As an amusement, great. As a way of life, not so much.

Easter demands that we come out of hiding. Resurrection obligates us to reveal who we are. We don’t have to be perfect, we just have to be real. When we get engaged in life we encounter our rough edges, the places where we hurt, where we are unsure. Making those discoveries is the only way we can have space enough to grow. God calls out to us this Eastertide, “Come out, come out, wherever you are! Ready or not, here I come!” Let yourself be found. That hiding place is awfully cramped. And falling into God’s love is much more fun than matching wits. Easter blessings to you of a life fully lived.

In the Love and Light of the Risen Christ,

Rev. Anna
