“Very truly, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these, because I am going to the Father.”
John 14:12
All of us, I’m guessing, have entertained the thought, “If I were God, then things would be____ (fill in the blank).” We have our ideas about how we would make the world a better place by changing those people, places, and things that we are sure could use some improvement. Well, there is good news. You are God! Or more accurately, one of the infinite number of expressions of God. All of God is fully present in every one of us. And—paradoxically (and thankfully!) each of us is not all there is of God.
There is more good news—God works by changing us, not other people. Every time we are disturbed by some situation it is an invitation from the Christ within us to “Let it begin with me.” We are invited to see more clearly, with greater wisdom, compassion, self-respect, and light. We are invited to act from a higher place, a more spiritually awake place. We are called to bring harmony, peace, joy, well-being, and abundance with us into every place we walk and talk. Our wishful thinking changes into a powerful prayer, “Knowing that I am an expression of God, in every situation I AM the Goodness of God.” Now that indeed makes this world a better place! Let it begin with you!
