Sooner or later in our quest for freedom, we come to the stark realization that the bonds that confine us live within our own minds. That doesn’t mean that there are no outer oppressions—there are. Rather it means that because we humans, as individuals and as societies, create those divisions and exclusions, we humans can dismantle them. How? By engaging our inner life. When we do the psychological and spiritual healing work to claim our deepest sense of self, we wake up. We are no longer interested or capable of entrapping ourselves or others. We wake up to our own worth and value. We wake up to the value of all humans and all creation. We wake up to our loving relationship with God. We wake up to the energy, desire, and ability to create inclusion, love, and fulfillment for all. Our spiritual life—our Christ nature—calls us to freedom full and free. And the power of God guarantees that we can find and express it. May this 4th of July be a celebration of freedom’s deep birth in you!
In the Love and Light of the Christ,
