Turn on the Light
“You show me the path of life. In your presence there is fullness of joy; in your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalm 16:11
I have been known to bump into the furniture while making my way through the house after turning out the lights. Why am I surprised when I find a big bruise on my leg the next morning! It’s pretty easy to turn on a physical light, however turning on our spiritual light requires courageous choice. At some level we know that as our spiritual awareness gets brighter we are going to see more clearly what we’ve been bumping into. It may not be easy to face. We all have “furniture” within us that has sharp edges, is broken down, or strewn about. Our old hurts have turned into hardness of heart or armored attitudes. These have made our life small and our path hazardous. But we have a choice. Though the brightness of our inner spiritual light may at first reveal painful facts, we soon discover its healing power. Our Christ Light is our Beloved Companion, our true self–always filled with love; always filled with strength; always filled with life; always ready to heal and to help. It is God’s Light, shining especially and particularly within and for us. Turn it on and walk boldly on the path of life.
In the Love and Light of the Christ,
