Take the Best and Leave the Rest
There is an old adage, “That the birds of worry and care fly over our heads, that we cannot help. But that they build a nest in our hair, that we can prevent!” We don’t get to pick and choose what comes toward us in life. But we DO get to choose what sticks to us. How do we take the best and leave the rest? When you notice the birds overhead, pause and give thanks for the good that is coming to you through this experience. Does that sound ridiculous? Probably. But it works! Your whole perception of the situation will change. You will see how you are growing into a greater person through meeting the situation with poise and peace. You may say, well I don’t feel one bit poised or peaceful! That’s OK. Just keep affirming your gratitude, believe in the possibility of good, and listen for and act on God’s loving wise guidance. You will change, the situation will change. You will find that you’ve forgotten why you were so upset. You’ll find yourself in a stronger, more abundant place in your life. Refuse to get stuck with worry birds. Tell them firmly, “I’ll just take the best and leave the rest!”
