“Jesus said to him, ‘Stand up, take your mat and walk.’ At once the man was made well, and he took up his mat and began to walk.”
John 5:8-9
“We are not victims. We are not guests. You and I are colleagues and co-creators with Him—living in the midst of ongoing creation and called upon to celebrate everything that is.”
Martin Bell
How are you doing? If you’re like me, you may be experiencing whiplash! A month ago, Austin was solidly headed toward a rapid slowdown of covid infections. Everyone was looking forward to the freedom to move about and to gather. We know that’s not how it turned out. This Monday’s Austin-American Statesman headline reads, “COVID surge puts brakes on Austin’s return-to-office plans.” And the covid surge also put the brakes on our church’s return to in-person services and meetings plans. What a disappointment. And, what a gateway.
So much is stirring in the world. The covid pandemic has been a catalyst for rousing us from our fixed ways of being in the world, our set ways of structuring our society. Things that had been swept under the rug are coming out to be reckoned with. It is painful. Yet it is necessary. For we can only bring to God for healing what we have the courage to acknowledge. We may not know exactly what isn’t working. Yet just being aware that something is awry opens opportunity. Healing happens when we bring our awareness of God’s Presence into contact with a hurtful thought, attitude, or behavior. Healing is transformation of our consciousness – the realization that we are spiritual in nature. We have the spiritual ability to live in love, not fear, in harmony, not discord, in well-being, not lack, in oneness, not enmity.
If you’re ready to do some healing for yourself, your community, your country, or our world, sweeping with The Broom Prayer is the ticket! Utilize this pandemic and cultural change for all the awakening you can get out of it. Don’t waste any of it. The Broom Prayer, learned years ago from my fellow Unity ministerial students, is a powerful house cleaning tool. It goes like this –
“The swift, powerful action and activity of the Holy Spirit now sweeps through my consciousness/the consciousness of our country/ the consciousness of our world, releasing all thoughts, ideas, attitudes, and actions that are not in complete accord with the Jesus Christ Consciousness of Love, Harmony, and Oneness. The swift, powerful action and activity of the Holy Spirit now sweeps into my consciousness/the consciousness of our country/ the consciousness of our world, all thoughts, ideas, attitudes, and actions that are in complete accord with and expressing of the Jesus Christ Consciousness of Love, Harmony, and Oneness. Thank You Father-Mother God.”
Sweep on – it’s good for your soul!
In the Love and Light of the Christ,
Rev. Anna
