“Give thanks in every circumstance…” 1 Thessalonians 5:18
Many years ago I began a Gratitude Journal as part of my morning spiritual practice. I had no idea how that practice would transform me. When events around me seem chaotic or overwhelming or disheartening or anything less than desirable and/or welcomed, I shift my awareness to what I can be grateful for in that moment.
And sometimes it is a moment by moment process. Finding something to be grateful for, to give thanks for, can be challenging when faced with so many of life’s experiences. The loss of a loved one, the loss of a pet, the results of an election can send us in a different direction. And though I may not be “grateful” for the event itself, I can always find gratitude. I find and experience gratitude by being grounded in Spirit. Having faith in God, even if I don’t understand it all.
Today I am grateful for a path that keeps me grounded in Spirit in every circumstance.
