helping handsParticipate in your spiritual community – volunteer opportunities for service and growth.

There are lots of ways to participate in Unity of Austin. Get started by speaking with the designated contact person for each team when you see them at church or use Contact Us. We’ll make sure your inquiry gets to the right person in a timely manner.

Volunteer on a Ministry Team

Ministry Teams carry out Unity of Austin’s many spiritual growth programs and activities. Ministry Teams include ministry areas led by Church Staff Members and supported by volunteers as well as volunteer led teams. Contact our church office via the Contact Us form or 512-892-3000 x304 for more information.

Here is the list of our volunteer ministry teams:

AV Assistant
Individual volunteers provide support and back-up for our AV Director on Sunday mornings — running PowerPoint slides, recording the service, monitoring sound, duplicating CDs, etc. AV experience a plus; interest and ability to learn AV skills, a must!

Bookstore
Our Bookstore provides resources for spiritual study and growth that support the Unity of Austin purpose and vision. Volunteers are welcomed to support the Bookstore’s activities.

Fellowship and Events Team
The Fellowship and Events Team provides opportunities for fellowship within the congregation and support for church events with the intent to help people deepen their connection with God.  Volunteers are always needed to support events with preparation, hosting, and clean-up.

IACT-Interfaith Action of Central Texas
Our church participates in a variety of interfaith activities, such as the monthly Red Bench conversions, Passport Program that visits other faith communities, Annual Thanksgiving Celebration and more.

Love In Action Volunteer Team
The Love in Action Team connects our church with various opportunities for service in our Austin community such as Capital Area Food Bank, Hands on Housing, etc. Each event is announced in advance. You can volunteer for one event or as many as you choose. New service ideas are welcome!

Music Ministry
The Music Ministry inspires and uplifts our congregation through beautiful heart-felt spiritual music at our Sunday and holiday services and through special musical events. Our Music Team invites volunteer singers and musicians.

Sunday Flowers Team
This team supplies and arranges our beautiful Sunday morning flowers for the front of our Sanctuary.

Ushers and Greeters Team
The Unity Ushers and Greeters would like to welcome anyone wishing to join our team. A lot of what happens “off stage” during each Sunday service is provided by our volunteer ushers, and the initial contact with worshipers plus the assistance provided before, during, and after the service are essential to a smooth-running, meaningful Sunday experience for all. Ushers provide a warm and safe atmosphere that ushers in God’s presence, providing the friendly smiles, warm greetings and communication that demonstrate Christian love to all who appear on our doorstep. Join us in for the opportunity to give and receive God’s grace!

Youth and Family Ministry
The YFM is dedicated to the spiritual development of the world’s most precious gift, our children. We offer Sunday morning classes for toddlers through middle school students. Our mission is to provide a safe, supportive, and joy-filled environment that promotes spiritual, physical, and emotional health, and also teaches the power of prayer. We seek to gently guide each child to recognize his or her God given gifts and Christ qualities. In addition, special events and family oriented activities are held throughout the year to support the spiritual growth of the families who attend Unity of Austin and to make a significant contribution to our community as a whole. Volunteer Roles are—

  • Sunday Teachers and Support
  • Playground Team

Volunteer on a Board Committee

Are you an official member of Unity of Austin? If yes, then running for election to the Board of Trustees or serving on a Board committee is open to you. These groups are responsible for developing and maintaining a strong, healthy container for the church ministry — ensuring that church finances, building and grounds, and policies are in good working order.

Here is the list of our board committees:

Board of Trustees
Purpose Statement: “We create a space for ministry through Truth principles, prayer and meditation, wise stewardship and loving service to God.” Members of the Board must be official members of Unity of Austin. See Bylaws Articles 4.03 – 4.07 for complete information.

Committees of the Board of Trustees
Committees are established by the Board and are its working arms.  Committees make recommendations to the Board on various issues concerning church policy, property, and finances.  Members of Committees must be official members of Unity of Austin.  The Minister and the Chair of the Board of Trustees are automatically members of every committee.

Building and Grounds Committee
The Building and Grounds Committee’s focus is on the well-being of the physical plant and grounds of the church. It supports the development in every person who participates in Unity of Austin, and for the church as a whole, a spiritual consciousness of loving care, integrity, and good stewardship of the church buildings and property. It provides  oversight and support in all building and grounds matters of the church.

Finance Committee
The Finance Committee’s focus is on the financial well-being of the church. It supports the development of prosperity consciousness for every participant in Unity of Austin and for the church as a whole. It provides oversight and establishes good stewardship practices in all financial matters of the church. Also oversees the Sunday offering counters.

Membership Committee
The Membership Committee’s focus is on the support and development of new members and the appreciation and continuing constructive engagement of current members. It supports the development of interest in and understanding and enthusiasm for participating as an official member of Unity of Austin, while respecting and honoring each individual’s choice in this matter.

Nominating Committee
The Nominating Committee develops the slate of nominees for open Board positions each year. Its members are elected at the Annual Meeting, and Chair selected as specified in the By-laws. The committee prayerfully and in an organized manner seeks and interviews candidates, vetting their eligibility based on the Board Member requirements in the By-laws.
