How Can I Keep From Singing?  – – – –

“My life flows on in endless song; Above earth’s lamentation, I hear the sweet, tho’ far-off hymn That hails a new creation; Thro’ all the tumult and the strife I hear the music ringing; It finds an echo in my soul—How can I keep from singing?”

This beautiful old hymn of anonymous authorship has carried many a determined soul through rough seas.  The words remind us of the beauty of life no matter our circumstances of the moment.  It calls us to find our soul’s song and sing it robustly.  That indeed shakes away anxieties and moves us to see God’s Presence.  No ill wind can disturb the calm peace of our soul when we sing.  Singing is praying twice.  Lift up your heart.  Lift up your voice.  How can you keep from singing?

In the Love and Light of the Christ,
