Giving It the Light Touch
On my way driving today I heard the local NPR program “ATXplained”– factual lighthearted answers to listeners’ questions about all things quirky in Austin. The topic was the long-standing Bee Cave or Bee Caves controversy. The basic upshot is that there is no authoritative resolution–even the city road signs go back and forth on the final “s” as you make your way down Bee Cave(s) Road. And by the way where are/were those namesake bees and were there ever any really? Hint: if there were they may have actually been honey wasps! It’s fun, it’s interesting, but how much does that final “s” really affect your life today? Probably not much. We can laugh and let it go. We give it the light touch. We can do that with any matter that comes into our mind today. It doesn’t mean that our life concerns are unimportant. It simply means that when we choose to see them in the light of God’s possibilities for good, they transform. We acknowledge our feelings–fears, frustrations, confusion–and lift them up into God’s love. The heaviness dissolves and we notice an open door where before there was only a wall. “Presence of Love and Light, I give my concerns over to You–I choose the Light Touch.”
