Compassion and Kindness

We come into this world with a natural capacity for empathy, love, and compassion.  We are meant to be relational Beings. We are created out of the relationship of our Beingness with and from the Divine. It is part of our spiritual DNA.

Throughout our lives, especially our formative childhood years, these natural capacities may be stuffed down and layered over by experiences that negate these innate tendencies. We can tap into them and strengthen these natural capacities through practice. In Unity, it is tapping into our Source, connecting with the Divine through prayer and meditation. For compassion and kindness starts within us first.

Self-compassion and self-kindness. It is important that these are a daily practice, a daily living out. From there we are guided in our relationships, our interactions with others. It creates that rippling effect, like the small stone thrown into the water. An effect our world needs more of right now.

“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there in anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:8-9
