“Let all that you do be done in love.” 1 Corinthians 16:14
June is Pride Month where the world’s LGBTQ+ communities come together and celebrate the freedom to be themselves. Freedom to be who they really are. That’s a big deal.
Our nation still has lots of work to do in assuring all people are treated equally with the same rights as others. And nations are made up of people. So technically, it’s our work, all of us. The way that we begin to do this is by remembering who we are – beloved expressions of God. All of us. No one excluded. We all come from the one Source, call it God, Love, Universe, Jehovah, whatever name you may call the Divine. Knowing this is true of ourselves, we can then see it is true for all of God’s creation. How wonderful that there are so many beautiful, diverse people in this world and we get to celebrate the many expressions of God.
Seeing people through the lens of Spirit will direct how we behave and act toward others. Are we practicing love in action? If there is resistance to embracing someone who is different, why is that? Usually when we dig deep into our own inner workings, we discover that it is never about the other so much as it is acceptance and love for our self. We must practice self-acceptance and self-love so that we may have greater acceptance and selfless love to give to those who have been made to feel less than worthy. Less than the beautiful expression of God that we all are.
I invite you to learn about the different Pride events going on in your community this month and participate. Be love in action. Celebrate the many expressions of God. For yourself and for the world.
Love, Light & Sparkles,
Rev. Carol
